Abstract
Measurements are presented of the <math altimg="si1.svg"><msubsup><mrow><mtext>B</mtext></mrow><mrow><mtext>s</mtext></mrow><mrow><mn>0</mn></mrow></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msup><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">μ</mi></mrow><mrow><mo linebreak="badbreak" linebreakstyle="after">+</mo></mrow></msup><msup><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">μ</mi></mrow><mrow><mo linebreak="badbreak" linebreakstyle="after">−</mo></mrow></msup></math> branching fraction and effective lifetime, as well as results of a search for the <math altimg="si137.svg"><msup><mrow><mtext>B</mtext></mrow><mrow><mn>0</mn></mrow></msup><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msup><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">μ</mi></mrow><mrow><mo linebreak="badbreak" linebreakstyle="after">+</mo></mrow></msup><msup><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">μ</mi></mrow><mrow><mo linebreak="badbreak" linebreakstyle="after">−</mo></mrow></msup></math> decay in proton-proton collisions at <math altimg="si2.svg"><msqrt><mrow><mi>s</mi></mrow></msqrt><mo linebreak="goodbreak" linebreakstyle="after">=</mo><mn>13</mn><mspace width="0.2em"/><mtext>TeV</mtext></math> at the LHC. The analysis is based on data collected with the CMS detector in 2016–2018 corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 140<math altimg="si4.svg"><mspace width="0.2em"/><msup><mrow><mtext>fb</mtext></mrow><mrow><mo linebreak="badbreak" linebreakstyle="after">−</mo><mn>1</mn></mrow></msup></math>. The branching fraction of the <math altimg="si1.svg"><msubsup><mrow><mtext>B</mtext></mrow><mrow><mtext>s</mtext></mrow><mrow><mn>0</mn></mrow></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msup><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">μ</mi></mrow><mrow><mo linebreak="badbreak" linebreakstyle="after">+</mo></mrow></msup><msup><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">μ</mi></mrow><mrow><mo linebreak="badbreak" linebreakstyle="after">−</mo></mrow></msup></math> decay and the effective <math altimg="si5.svg"><msubsup><mrow><mtext>B</mtext></mrow><mrow><mtext>s</mtext></mrow><mrow><mn>0</mn></mrow></msubsup></math> meson lifetime are the most precise single measurements to date. No evidence for the <math altimg="si137.svg"><msup><mrow><mtext>B</mtext></mrow><mrow><mn>0</mn></mrow></msup><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msup><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">μ</mi></mrow><mrow><mo linebreak="badbreak" linebreakstyle="after">+</mo></mrow></msup><msup><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">μ</mi></mrow><mrow><mo linebreak="badbreak" linebreakstyle="after">−</mo></mrow></msup></math> decay has been found. All results are found to be consistent with the standard model predictions and previous measurements.
