Abstract
(en) This article looks at whether the notion of recognition can renew or enrich the normative reflection on justice. The close examination of Nancy Fraser’s theses on this topic leads to distinguish two meanings of this notion. The first one refers to the analysis of the cultural causes of certain injustices. The second one is normative : it identifies a type of requirement of justice on which can be based the evaluation of situations and of public action. In agreement with Fraser, this normative sense could rely on the idea of equal participation in the social life. But, unlike her claims, its implications should be laid on psychological and identity-related assumptions.
