The main purpose of this paper was to explore the nature and salience of multiple goals that unemployed jobseekers set and pursue in social-professional training. The second objective was understand the dynamics of multiple goal pursuit. An explorative multidimensional unfolding method was used to observe the goal preferences unemployed jobseekers allocate to goals they pursue in training. This technique allows to visualize how goals were related to each other. Exploring the landscape of goals is all the more important for jobseekers as they need to face up to situational constraints pushing them into a training context. In Belgium, the jobseekers activation plan prescribes that unemployed people need to be actively engaged in job seeking process and are excepted to accept an adequate job offer or (re)training. Therefore, this study aimed to understand the meaning and instrumentality that jobseekers give to social-professional training through the study of their personal goals. In social-professional training, the personal goals of the jobseeker are often developed and stated in a personal career development plan.
