- This study compares analytic causative constructions with 'faire' and 'make' on the basis of bilingual corpora and by means of a twofold approach, viz. from original texts to translations and from translations to original texts. It shows that, although the two verbs may at first sight appear equivalent, they rarely correspond to one another, which may be explained by differences in usage between the English and French constructions.
