Abstract
Patients suffering from knee osteoarthritis display several limitations of activities. The mobility assessment tools accessible in clinics are limited. As the goal of rehabilitation is to improve functioning in daily life, it is necessary to be able to assess the patient in its daily environment. The goal of this thesis was to test wearable technologies in a lab and moving towards uncontrolled daily life conditions. We developed a measurement system of joint angles, based on inertial sensors and validated it against a gold standard system. Then, this technology brought to light the improvement of hip range of motion during gait after an injection in the genicular nerves of the knee in Cameroon. Next, an activity tracker allowed to objectivity the return to the preoperative physical activity level around the 7th week after an arthroplasty and a telerehabilitation treatment. Those technologies, associated with artificial intelligence, could push forward the practice and the clinical decision process of physiotherapists.
