- (en) This study explores MOOC learner cognitive engagement in different types of discussions forums and the way this engagement reflects different cognitive processes. The goal of this study is to analyse the relationship between the intended learning outcomes of the forums and the cognitive engagement of MOOC learners. Text mining and content analysis techniques explore the cognitive engagement of 12,242 learners enrolled in 6 EdX MOOCs. The results of this study contribute to a better understanding of the cognitive engagement of MOOC learners in forums.
