This paper focus on the analysis of the visual dimension of communication spread by the organizers of the last 5 COPs (Conferences of Parties), the meeting organized normally (except for 2020) once a year by governments that signed the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in 1992. The aim is to understand how this communication develops on a specific social media platform that has become very important in recent years, Instagram. How images are used in promoting COPs and the aims concerning the fight against climate change? How governments mobilize Instagram in their communication policy, before, during and after each of the last five COPs? More specifically, how non-human natural beings are enrolled in the official communication of COPs on Instagram still images and movies?
