Abstract
(en) This lecture aims at defining ancient weights and measures as a social construct. It focuses on the context and the modalities of measurement operations in ancient times. Finally, it presents the figure of the agoranomos, who is the magistrate in charge of enforcing order on the agora, especially by guaranteeing the fairness of transactions.
