Abstract
Media education has a key role to play in building the post-pandemic societies. The COVID-19 pandemic confronted us with the present time, crisis management and lack of perspectives. There seems to be a huge need to reopen the critical discussions on the future of our societies and their media environments, especially with young generations. In this short paper, we discuss how speculative design can be used to foster such discussions with learners in the context of media education. We present the effects of media education activities on learner’s critical skills by highlighting how they expand their ability to discuss on digital media and technologies and help them adopting an alternate point of view on the contemporary media ecology.
