- (en) An inquiry conducted in Senegal among political, cultural, economic and religious leaders made it possible to highlight very different ways of looking at the human success and the role of school. Public education remains the reference, but is criticized for its inefficiency and its politicization. Catholic private schools are unanimously appreciated, because they add formalization to efficiency. Koranic education is very different from formal education. The sole objective of Koranic education is to teach the young people, who are entrusted to him, religion using various teaching models, of which some are strongly disputed because they are based on symbolic and physical violence. The law of 2002 introducing the teaching of religion into the official schools is likely to modify the battle of wills in the establishments in favour of the masters of religion.
