Abstract
(en) In the frame of the Aerostream project, one of the objectives was to study the integration of additively manufactured Al parts in aerostructures. SABCA suggested an assembly of 11 Al parts to be re-designed and replaced by one SLM AlSi10Mg part as a case study. In parallel to topological optimisation, a full characterisation campaign has been realised about the microstructure and the mechanical behaviour of SLM AlSi10Mg. Cubic and cylindrical specimens have been fabricated by selective laser melting and provided by 3DSystems Leuven. Various process parameters (layer thickness, orientation,…) and post-treatments (stress relieve, shot-peening, hot isostatic pressing,…) have been studied. Both static mechanical tests and fatigue tests were performed and coupled with an in-depth characterisation of the corresponding microstructures. In addition, specimens were extracted from the re-designed demonstrator to compare their mechanical behaviour to the standard samples.
