The first measurements of diboson production cross sections in proton-proton interactions at a center-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV are reported. They are based on data collected with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of <math display="inline"><mrow><mn>302</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><msup><mrow><mi>pb</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>-</mo><mn>1</mn></mrow></msup></mrow></math>. Events with two, three, or four charged light leptons (electrons or muons) in the final state are analyzed. The <math display="inline"><mi>W</mi><mi>W</mi></math>, <math display="inline"><mrow><mi>W</mi><mi>Z</mi></mrow></math>, and <math display="inline"><mi>Z</mi><mi>Z</mi></math> total cross sections are measured as <math display="inline"><mrow><msub><mrow><mi>σ</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>W</mi><mi>W</mi></mrow></msub><mo>=</mo><mn>37</mn><mo>.</mo><msubsup><mrow><mn>0</mn></mrow><mrow><mo>-</mo><mn>5.2</mn></mrow><mrow><mo>+</mo><mn>5.5</mn></mrow></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>stat</mi><msubsup><mrow><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow><mrow><mo>-</mo><mn>2.6</mn></mrow><mrow><mo>+</mo><mn>2.7</mn></mrow></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>syst</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi>pb</mi></mrow></math>, <math display="inline"><mrow><msub><mrow><mi>σ</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>W</mi><mi>Z</mi></mrow></msub><mo>=</mo><mn>6.</mn><msubsup><mrow><mn>4</mn></mrow><mrow><mo>-</mo><mn>2.1</mn></mrow><mrow><mo>+</mo><mn>2.5</mn></mrow></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>stat</mi><msubsup><mrow><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow><mrow><mo>-</mo><mn>0.3</mn></mrow><mrow><mo>+</mo><mn>0.5</mn></mrow></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>syst</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi>pb</mi></mrow></math>, and <math display="inline"><mrow><msub><mrow><mi>σ</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>Z</mi><mi>Z</mi></mrow></msub><mo>=</mo><mn>5.</mn><msubsup><mrow><mn>3</mn></mrow><mrow><mo>-</mo><mn>2.1</mn></mrow><mrow><mo>+</mo><mn>2.5</mn></mrow></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>stat</mi><msubsup><mrow><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow><mrow><mo>-</mo><mn>0.4</mn></mrow><mrow><mo>+</mo><mn>0.5</mn></mrow></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>syst</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi>pb</mi></mrow></math>. All measurements are in good agreement with theoretical calculations at combined next-to-next-to-leading order quantum chromodynamics and next-to-leading order electroweak accuracy.
