Abstract
In the sartorius muscle of Rana temporaria isometrically tetanized at 0°C, the ratio hA / hB is 1.2 for the first tetanus; it falls to about 0.5 if the second tetanus follows after 5 to 10 s, and still reaches only 0.8 if the interval is increased to two minutes. However, the release of the second tetanus is always slower. Return to normal requires more than 15 minutes at 0°C.
