- Abstract
- The search for meaning in a dead language like Ancient Egyptian is a very hard and interesting challenge, especially when words have got different meanings, which is most often the case. I here propose to examine such a case and to show how to find and organise the meaning(s) of a word from a particular semantic domain. As lexical semantics is quite new in our field, Egyptologists are still working to achieve an optimal theorization of it, by combining the particularities of our discipline with what is done in general linguistics.
