- (en) As in previous columns, this column adopts the model proposed by the Max-Planck-Institut für ausländisches und internationales Strafrecht (Freiburg-im-Breisgau), in terms of legislation, doctrine and case law. It deals with "criminal matters", to use the expression of the European Court of Human Rights, which covers both general criminal law, special criminal law, youth protection and social defence law, criminal procedure (including preventive detention) and the law of the enforcement of sentences. It does not claim to critically analyse the developments in criminal law in recent years or to seek to rationalise them. Rather, it seeks to gather as much information as possible and provide materials that may be useful to the criminal law practitioner, and on the basis of which further research can be undertaken.
