Abstract
The behaviour of the horizontal components of the e.m. fields in a horizontally stratified magnetoionic medium depends on the vectorial equation de/dz=-ik/sub 0/Te. In order to integrate this equation in a region Z epsiv (Z/sub 0/,Z/sub s/), one divides the region into elementary slabs. The proposed method makes use of the matricants for nonuniform elementary slabs, determines the diffusion matrix and leads to particular solutions of the vectorial equation having a relative precision uniform across the whole region considered.
