Abstract
The application of the Watson formula for the centrifugal distortion correction on the rotational energy levels of a non-planar asymmetric-rotor molecule as ethyl alcohol gives one some new information on the microwave spectra of the isotopic species CH/sub 3 /-CH/sub 2/-OH, CD/sub 3/-CD/sub 2/-OH and CD/sub 3 /-CD/sub 2/-OD in the CD/sub 3/-CH/sub 2/-OH, CD/sub 3/-CD/sub 2/-OH and CD/sub 3/-CD/sub 2/-OD in the fundamental state of vibration. The assigned transitions correspond to the dipole component along the axis of intermediate moment of inertia ( mu /sub b/). The analysis of the Stark effect imposes an upper limit to the component mu /sub a/ along axis of least moment of inertia ( mu /sub a/<or=0.1 mu /sub b/) for the `trans' form where the hydroxylic atom lies in the plane of the three heavy atoms.
