Abstract
(en) Who would have believed that a child nursery rhyme, still familiar nowadays in the Anglo-Saxon world, could find its roots in distant antiquity? The analysis of four mathematical documents, of the second millennium in Mesopotamia and in Egypt until the eighteenth century in Britain, passing through Italy of the twelfth century, permits to glimpse the amazing destiny of a simple scribes exercise.
