Abstract
(en) [Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES): An unknown pathology in pediatrics] An 11-year-old girl treated for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) presented with hypertension, headache, contusion, and generalized seizures. Brain magnetic resonance Imaging (MRI) confirmed the diagnosis of posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES), which was considered a complication of hypertension, combined wilh kidney disease and chemotherapy. The management of the acute neurological symptoms related to PRES is aimed at hypertension control and seizure treatment. Magnetic resonance imaging should be performed in order to confirm the diagnosis. Although PRES is reversible, monitoring blood pressure in children tieated wilh immunosuppressive diugs and chemotherapy appears crucial due to the syndrome's potential long-term side-effects.
