Abstract
This research in the history of law deals with the private law of Namur County under the old regime. Its starting point is the inventory of the Namur appeals fund at the Grand Council of Mechelen, produced for the General Archives of the Kingdom. The first volume analyzes the foundations of the ancient law of Namur and judicial activity in the 18th century. The second volume reconstructs the main areas of this right on the basis of unpublished sources of archives (persons, property, patrimonial right of the family, obligations). The third volume is composed of annexes (reproduction of the text of the custom and a complete inventory of the archive). This research brings a new vision of the private law of the former Southern Netherlands.
