- [Study of vegetable metaphors in three commentaries on the Song of Solomon (Origen, Apponius, Bernard of Clairvaux)]. Sustained by recent research on exegetical method "by concordances" (G. Dahan, A.-M. Pelletier) and by textual theory of P. Ricoeur, the first part of this essay is dedicated to the heuristic function of metaphor. The analysis of three Song of Songs commentaries passages show the game of crossing scriptural references where vegetal motives appear and put the light on subtle intertextuality which takes place between biblical texts for sense edification and spiritual progress of the lector becoming at the same time as concordances growing and exegetical chain. Metaphor is also source of knowledge in the field of a salvation theology based on restoration by image. The analysis of metaphors especially those organised around the fragrance reveals a movement assimilating divine and human images. Vivid identity research translates in the poetical text the will of restore in oneself the creator image, source of knowledge of oneself.
