- (en) Filiation is at the center of the narrative that relates the birth of Jacob’s sons in Gen. 29:31-30:24, which follows the episode of the double marriage with the daughters of Laban. This article offers a rhetorical and narrative analysis of this text which, apparently, does not look like a consistent narrative, for birth records are juxtaposed most of the time. The conclusion attempts to highlight the anthropological issues of filiation as it is put in narrative in this often overlooked page of the saga of the Patriarchs.
