In L-PBF, selecting the right process parameters is of upmost importance in order to obtain defectless parts. During the process, the input energy has then to stay within the process window to avoid defects such as lack of fusion, keyholes or balling. While it is often the case in simple geometries, it becomes tricky in complex parts such as heat exchangers. Indeed, the occurrence of hot and cold spots in such structure can lead the input energy to be shifted out of the process window, thus resulting in the appearance of above-mentioned defects. In this work, this effect is studied by using specific geometries. By controlling the change of the job load i.e., the time to process a layer, a change of the roughness and porosity of parts have been measured.
