(en) Conversion disorder manifestations to close the age of latency Mental health professionals have shown unflagging interest in hysterical manifestations whether it be in order to give them a particular status, to reduce them to an attitude of simulation or to attempt to understand the etiopathogenic mechanisms involved. This article develops the clinical situation of a young girl at the beginning of adolescence, who presents an amnesia considered to be psychogenic. When confronted with such a tableau, prudence is necessary. Indeed, the symptoms which lead us to evoke hysterical-type troubles in this young woman require an evaluation with a differential diagnosis including both physical and psychic elements, something which clearly justifies a joint pediatric and psychiatric approach. The author, after recalling several psychopathological considerations about the concept of hysteria, proposes to discuss the possible meanings of the conversion disorder manifestation. Among these hypotheses, we can retain the one suggesting that the appearance of this trouble is a modality for taking leave of the age of latency.
