Abstract
The article shows how the "idealization of everyday life" is necessary to enrich psychic life, to the extent that it corresponds with the oscillation from idealisation to dis-idealisation of the object. When this oscillation is interrupted, pathological changes, such as hysterical or phobic identification, can occur. In these cases, an inadequate differentiation between the three states of the Ego Ideal, the Ideal Ego and the Superego can be observed. This lack of differentiation is accompanied by an exaggerated idealisation, depleting the subject in favor of the object. A form of dis-idealisation becomes necessary, with negative idealisation as a prerequisite. Introjective identification can then occur, but its therapeutic capacity depends on a clarification of the relationship between the three elements of the ego. An Ego Ideal looking to the future, in particular, must emerge, differentiated as such from the Superego, which tends to look to the past.
