- In the previous paper, Ney and Gardiol (see ibid., vol.26, p.10-13 (1977)) proposed an automatic device for continuous monitoring of the resonant frequency and the bandwidth of a microwave resonator. The method suffers from the major inconvenience that the bandwidth and the speed of the sweeper must be known accurately and for every operating condition. The author presents his own method which directly gives the resonant frequency and the bandwidth of the cavity by measuring the frequency of auxiliary oscillators properly locked on the cavity. Concerning the parameters of the sweeper, attention must be paid only to its linearity and power stability.
