(en) Male Wistar rat 80g of weight received 2µg T3/g in their drinking water for 3 weeks. The right gastrocnemius was minced and autografted in situ. Administration of T3 continued during muscle regeneration for 30 days. Then the muscle regenerated was lightly dissected out. T3 does not change the Force-Velocity relation, in comparison with T3-untreated rats. Total proteins, creatine, creatinekinase, aldolase, lactic dehydrogenase, phosphofructokinase and isocitricodehydrogenase remained normal. Although hyperthyroidy induces an increase of the number of fast muscle fibres (Ianuzzo et al. 1980), T3 does not influence the phenotype of the muscles regenerated after mincing. Ianuzzo, C.D & al. (1980). Plasticity of Muscle (Pette, ed) pg 593-605.
