The new concept of high entropy alloys (HEAs) has already provided very interesting materials both as structural and functional materials. The development of new HEAs represents a great challenge since the number of possible combinations of principal elements explodes with the complexity of the alloy. We propose to use diffusion multiples as an experimental approach to screen vast composition ranges to identify promising HEAs. This method consists in heat-treating assemblies of metal blocks to activate diffusion and consequently creating gradients of compositions. Chemical and physical properties are then directly probed within defined areas owing to advanced characterization methods such as EDX, EBSD, and nanoindentation.
