The onset of the COVID-19 global pandemic in 2020 brought abrupt changes to how people lived their lives and interacted with society. Many activities and jobs that did not require face-to-face interactions were shifted to remote or distanced formats. While certain aspects of healthcare require in-person interactions, the pandemic triggered a rapid expansion of telemedicine for areas where it was feasible to do so.
