Abstract
This study employs a comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to evaluate the environmental and structural performance of two construction methods for a 120 meters high-rise building. The first method features a conventional concrete structure, while the second proposes a hybrid system inspired by the Atlassian Central Tower in Sydney, incorporating cross-laminated timber (CLT) frames, reinforced concrete cores, and RC slabs. Parametric modelling techniques validate structural performance using Grasshopper with the Karamba plugin for structural modelling, loading, and analysis. This innovative design optimizes material distribution, reduces embodied greenhouse gas emissions (EGHGE), and enhances design flexibility. Findings highlight the hybrid system’s potential to reduce emissions by nearly 35% while ensuring stability, contributing to sustainable high-rise design.
