Abstract
EMBODIMENT and its actualization in various body parts constitute a major source domain for conceptual metaphor. However, even if the association between body parts and emotion is very largely spread and probably even close to universal, “different aspects of bodily experience may be used selectively to result in metaphorical variation”. This phenomenon is called cultural script. The present article will offer a first glance at a comparison of metaphors of EMBODIMENT in ancient and modern languages spoken in Africa, including Ancient Egyptian.
