- (en) [Intraneural mucoid cysts of the common fibular nerve: A case report and literature review] Intraneural mucoid cysts are uncommon. At advanced stages, these benign, Infiltrating diseases may result in nerve compression. We report the case of a 34-year-old man who presented with sensory disturbances in the territory of the common fibular nerve, along with a foot drop, on account of a mucoid cyst infiltrating this nerve. MRI revealed that the mucous cyst originated from the tibiofibular articulation. The cyst was surgically excised. Following decompression, the nerve exhibited progressive functional recovery, A review of the scientific literature revealed that surgical ligation of the neck of these cysts, followed by drainage, helps alleviate nerve compression, while being efficacious in preventing recurrence.
