Abstract
The concept of Trichaptum sprucei and the status of the genus Phaeodaedalea are discussed, on the basis of new data, morphological, ultra-structural, and molecular (genomic). The present concept of T. sprucei is demonstrated to represent at least two different taxa. Trichaptum sprucei s.s. is in all probability restricted to the Neotropics. A second species occurs at least in India. Phaeodaedalea is confirmed as a synonym of Trichaptum.
