Abstract
The ten transitions involved in the spectrum of the far-infrared SO/sub 2/ laser are shown to involve a single Fermi resonance. Four transitions terminate and five transitions originate on this level; the last transition extends the strongest line in a cascade process. Calculation gives almost perfect agreement with the observed frequencies and their intensities.
