Abstract
Lorsqu’un jeune garçon tient en main une huppe, comme on le voit sur les parois des mastabas, l’oiseau constitue probablement pour l’adolescent une double garantie de prolongement de la vie : par l’assimilation de la huppe au soleil, qui intègre le fils du défunt au cycle solaire, et comme promesse de virilité. Abstract : When a young boy holds a hoopoe in his hand, as can be seen on the walls of the mastabas, the bird is probably a double guarantee of life extension for the teenager : by the hoopoe’s association with the sun which integrates the boy into the solar cycle, and as a promise of virility.
