Abstract
The tumor ecosystem evolves with dynamic interactions between cancer and normal cells, and nutrients have emerged as new regulators of cancer hallmarks. Lactate has climbed the rankings as a multifunctional molecule orchestrating many aspects of the disease onset and progression. Here, we patchwork and discuss the main recent findings conferred during the EMBO workshop Lactate: unconventional roles of a nutrient along the tumor landscape.
