This contribution investigates the Self-initiated Expatriation from the perspective of the SIEs to reveal the symbolic potential that lies behind the so-called actual physical expatriation. Through an empirical study, we unveil the self-emancipatory project crafted by the respondent showing SIEs’ needs and expectations associated with their management
