Right handed neutrinos with masses below the electroweak scale cansimultaneously explain the lightness of the neutrino masses via the seesawmechanism and the baryon asymmetry of the universe via leptogenesis. We studyhow their properties, such as the mass spectrum and flavour mixing patterns areconstrained based on the requirement to explain both phenomena. If any heavyneutral leptons are discovered in the future, it will be possible to use theseconstraints to assess whether these particles are the common origin of the lightneutrino masses and the baryon asymmetry of the universe.
