Abstract
(en) This paper aims to shed a light on the maritime relations between Elam (Iran) and Mesopotamia (Iraq) in the first half of the first millennium BC, in which the Elam-Sealand sea route became increasingly important for political-strategic reasons and economic interests. The Mesopotamian textual records, particularly the Bel-ibni archive, refer to a specific type of vessel, the hallimu boat, which was used to sail in the northern Gulf region between the Elamite and Sealand harbours. One of these harbours was the otherwise unknown Mahmiti port that provided access to the Susiana hinterland.
