Abstract
Objectives  Improve the understanding of the impact of vegetation on radiometer and radar measurements for soil moisture retrieval by performing tower-based active (radar) and passive (radiometer) microwave experiments  Develop and validate active and passive microwave radiative transfer (RT) models to derive information on vegetation and soil states from remote microwave signals  Improve the performance of the RT models and advance the range of parameters that can be retrieved from microwave sensors
