Abstract
(en) This presentation aims to show how religion, and in particular Pentecostalism, becomes a crucial reference in establishing relationships for Brazilian immigrants in Brussels. In absence of the primary environment in which they grow up in Brazil (family and neighborhood) and which is more open to establishing relations with believers of other religions, Pentecostalism appears more clearly as a brand mark for trust and a criterion for creating boundaries within the Brazilian community at large. These are the first findings of an ethnographic research (participant observation and interviews) at the Videira Church in Brussels.
