- (en) Although mental health professionals in childhood and adolescence provide help and care, they can only feel ill at ease when they discover inappropriate parental skills towards young subjects suffering from a lack of identity and positive identifications. It is not always easy in these conditions to question the adult’s positionings without threatening the unavoidable therapeutic alliance if modifications in individual and relational functioning were to be envisaged. In view of the complexity of these situations the clinician gains in ease and working efficiency if he benefits from some guidelines that delimit his framework of intervention. The article develops the notion of framework in relation to the function of the third party as being essential to disengage the clinician from the dual dynamics with family members. Different levels of intervention with the framework are examined as the therapeutic relation with the child and his family evolues around the functioning of ill treatment.
