Abstract
(en) This research focuses on the virtual experience of places. In particular, we try to answer to two questions: How is the experience of a place possible if the body is not involved? Can the virtual place replace the physical one? In order to answer to these questions, we build a conceptual model based on Merleau Ponty’s Phenomenology of Perception. The emergence of what we call a “virtual body” underscores the importance of imagination in the construction of reality. Afterwards, this rebirth of the body will help us explain consumers’ perceptions of the virtual place. From a managerial point of view, the aim of this research is to guide companies in different sectors when they make the decision to implement such virtual places in their overall strategies.
