INTRODUCTION : Anomalies of the foveal avascular zones are rare findings that were considered for a long time as non-relevant variation of the normal anatomy of the retina [1]. However, the advent of OCT and now OCT-A has begun to increase the scientific knowledge about these entities [2]. The most studied one is fovea plana, an anomaly named after the OCT pictures, wherein the foveal depression is largely lost. Fluoangiography and OCTA show an absence of foveal avascular zone in this population. A minimally reduced visual acuity has been classically related to fovea plana [2], [3], but a larger definition of the entity seems to emerge as it has been associated with nanophthalmic eyes [4] and patients with frankly reduced Snellen visual acuity.
