Abstract
A discussion covers the recent achievements and advances of the three main systems for CO2 separation; why is membrane-based technology for CO2 recovery closer to the laboratory-scale research than an industrial scheme; limitations that decelerate the use of membrane-based technologies in the industry; opportunities and constraints of using gas permeation, non-dispersive absorption with porous membranes or supported liquid membranes; and the future research in this field.
