This contribution will present my research on the municipalist movement Cooperation Jackson in Jackson, Mississippi. I am studying how this movement articulates direct democracy, economic democracy and black self-determination through different vehicles: running for municipal elections, creating a network of cooperatives for social and solidarity economy, or organizing popular assemblies.
