Abstract
Application-oriented accelerators are generally built commercially, and they often emphasize other qualities than the accelerators for research. These accelerators are generally specialized for a specific application, and are therefore very simple and inexpensive to operate. The author will review some products and applications in the field of medicine, such as the production of radioisotopes and radiotherapy, as well as in the industrial field, such as sterilization applications and the modification of materials.
