The increasing complexity of modern hemophilia care gives rises to new challenges, four of which are examined in this work. It first describes the impact of recent advancements in hemophilia treatments, by presenting real-world data on gene therapy eligibility, European healthcare providers' experiences with emicizumab, a new subcutaneous treatment for hemophilia A, as well as outcomes of emicizumab use in obese patients treated at the Cliniques universitaires Saint-Luc (CUSL). Additionally, the concept of a “hemophilia-free mind” is introduced, highlighting the potential of new treatments to alleviate the psychological burden experienced by persons with hemophilia. The thesis also emphasizes the need for holistic care beyond male patients by discussing findings from a proactive hemophilia carrier screening study conducted at the CUSL. Finally, this work describes how digitalization benefits hemophilia care through the development of a custom-built hemophilia navigator.
