(en) Contemporary Trinitarian theology is globally understood as the unravelling of John’s words: “God is love”. What is at stake is a theological alternative to a whole philosophical tradition regarding God and the theodicy. Pannenberg, in his Systematical Theology, does not endorse such a break away; on the contrary, according to him, some kind of preunderstanding of God drawn from originally from philosophy is necessary: the notion of infinite truth, even though the nature of the true infinite is ultimately only revealed when it is that of love.
