Abstract
The polarization of radioactive nuclei has a lot of applications in the study of nuclear and solid state physics. The advent of intense radioactive ion beams with the recent astrophysical projects, opens new avenues for studies of other physics phenomena as well. A lot of unique and new experiments from applied physics to fundamental nuclear physics, can be carried out by polarizing these radioactive nuclei. The authors' first interest are: (i) condensed matter studies with nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) on polarized /sup 13/N, /sup 15/O, /sup 11 /C, /sup 19/Ne, implanted in different samples and which are available at the Cyclotron Research Center in Louvain-la-Neve, (ii) weak interaction studies: search for the occurrence of right-handed currents in beta -decay of polarized nuclei.
